1. Normally the possessive is placed after the noun, which is in the definite form:
Examples: |
||
Jeg må vaske bilen min. (I must wash my car.) |
Søstera mi heter Maren. (My sister is called Maren.) |
Bøkene mine var dyre. (My books were expensive.) |
2. For emphasis the possessive can be placed before the noun in the indefinite form:
Examples: |
||
Det er ikke dine penger! (That’s not your money!) |
De er mine! (That’s mine!) |
Det er min skyld! (That is my fault!) |
This is more common in writing than in speaking especially with abstract ideas or institutions.
