Below are some more adverbs of degree that modify adjectives and adverbs.  Note that both “veldig” and “svært” mean “very,” but the latter is more formal.

veldig (very)  Han er veldig rask(He is very fast.)  Han kjørte veldig raskt(He drove very fast.)
svært (very)  Musikken var svært god(The music was very good.)  Korpset spilte svært godt(The band played very well.)
helt (completely)  Han var helt ferdig(He was completely done.) Det gikk helt fint(It went completely well.)
forferdelig (terribly) Huset var forferdelig stort(The house was terribly large.)  Han kjørte forferdelig fort. (He drove terribly fast.)
for (too) Genseren var for stor. (The sweater was too large.) Hun snakket for høyt. (She spoke too loudly.)
altfor (much too)  Fotturen var altfor lang(The hike was much too far.)  Han skrev altfor langsomt(He wrote much too slowly.)
