Vokabular. Before reading, familiarize yourself with the essential vocabulary by using the Quizlet flashcards. Turn your volume on so you can also hear the pronunciation of the words. Also use the quiz function of Quizlet to quiz yourself on the most essential vocabulary before you move on. When you use Quizlet for the first time you will need to click on the “options” button, selecting “show Norwegian first” and then the “advanced audio options” to select “Norwegian audio on” and “English audio off.” You also have the option of starring the words and expressions you have trouble with and studying those separately (click on “options to study starred words only). Finally there are additional study modes and games you can use.

I kapittel 13 får vi vite at Reidun har termin 4. juni. Elling og Kjell Bjarne engster seg veldig og løper rundt som gale for å ordne ting til fødselen. Da Reidun ringer og sier at det er på tide å dra til sykehuset, får Kjell Bjarne panikk, og Elling må ringe taxisentralen mens han får Kjell Bjarne opp til Reidun. Da taxisentralen ikke tar telefonen, ringer Elling til Alfons og ber ham komme og kjøre dem til sykehuset. Elling og Kjell Bjarne blir fortalt at det kommer til å ta lang tid før Reidun føder og at de skal dra fra sykehuset. Mens de venter på at Reidun skal føde, drar Elling og Kjell Bjarne ut på cafe og drikker vin for å roe nervene, men de ender opp med å drikke seg kjempefulle. De ender opp med å ikke huske mye av natta. Da Elling våkner neste morgen, er han fyllesyk og redd for at han har gjort noe galt i fylla.
