4.2 Indefinite Singular

The indefinite form is used to introduce a noun into a context for the first time.  It consists of an indefinite article + noun:

 

en mann
(a man)
ei/en bok
(a book)
et hus
(a house)
 en gutt
(a boy)
 ei/en jente
(a girl)
et barn
(a child)

Examples:

Det står en mann der borte.  (There’s a man standing over there.)

Jeg kjøpte ei bok til min far. (I bought a book for my father.)

Han bor i et hus. (He lives in a house)

Kjenner du en gutt som heter Andreas? (Do you know a boy named Andreas?)
