The passive voice can also be expressed with the s-passive, which is used mainly after modal auxiliaries and in the present tense.  S-passives occur most often in signs, headlines, recipes, rules, and instructions.

S-passive in Present Tense

Maten skal serveres.
(The food will be served.)
Middagen serveres klokka 17.
(The dinner is served at 5 o’clock.)
Melken bør ikke kokes.
(The melk ought not to be boiled.)
Potetene kokes i 20 minutter.
(The potatoes are boiled for 20 minutes.)
Filmen kan vises i kveld.
(The film can be shown tonight.)
 Filmen vises i dag.
(The film is being shown today.)
Leksene må leveres i dag.
(The lessons must be turned in today.)
Leksene leveres hver dag.
(The lessons are turned in every day.)
