back.red.arrow red.arrow

Use of an adjective with possessive pronoun:

Possessive after  definite noun

Possessive first + indefinite noun

den nye bilen min min gamle bil (my old car)
det lille huset ditt ditt lille hus (your little house)
de tunge bøkene våre våre tunge bøker (our heavy books)
den nye bilen til Magne Magnes nye bil (Magne’s new car)

1.  Adjectives used with possessives must be in the definite form (usually ending in -e), regardless of the gender or number of the noun:

Examples:
min nye bil den nye bilen min mitt nye hus  det nye huset mitt

  2.  When an adjective is used before a definite noun + possessive, it must have its own definite article, den, det or de.  This definite article must agree in gender and number with the noun “owned”.  This phenomenon is often referred to as ‘double definite.’

Examples:
den nye bilen min det lille huset mitt de tunge bøkene mine
