Examples of prepositions used to show direction:

 

til: to

Jeg skal til legen i dag.
Jeg kjører til byen hver dag.
I’m going to the doctor today.
I drive to the city every day.

 

på: to (used in idiomatic expression emphasizing the activity at the destination, rather than the action of moving in the direction of):

De gikk kino.
Han går skolen.
Skal vi gå festen?
They went to the movies.
He goes to school.
Shall we go to the party?


i:  
to (used idiomatically with certain destinations):

Han går i kirken.
Skal vi gå i butikken i dag?
He goes to church.
Shall we go  to the store today?


mot:
toward

Mannen kommer mot meg. The man is coming toward me.
